16. Rewrite the following CBS-ism as one complete sentence using five or fewer words:
In my own personal opinion, and in conclusion, at the end of the day, the bottom line is, when all is said and done, when the fat man sings, that Mother Nature, in the awesome form of mighty Hurricane Ike thundering and slamming ashore in a turbulent and fateful pre-dawn, wreaked havoc on our homeland, snapping trees like matchsticks and leaving a swath of destruction in her wake that looked like a war zone and changed our lives forever, requiring us to seek closure and healing from grief counselors.

The former address, "reactionary drivel," was a P. G. Wodehouse gag that few ever understood to be a mildly self-deprecating joke. Drivel, perhaps, but not reactionary. Neither the Red Caps nor the Reds ever got it.

About This Not-Really Reactionary

- Y'r 'umble scrivener knows how to milk cows (altho' he long ago swore to own no livestock larger than dachshunds), build fences, clear brush, and cut firewood. After 18 months in Viet-Nam and Cambodia he worked his way through university as an ambulance driver, nurses' aide, and then LVN. BA in History, University of San Diego, 1976; MEd, Stephen F. Austin State University, 1984; MA in English, Stephen F. Austin State University, 2002. He also taught school, but that makes him a class (no pun) enemy just now. He has been rejected by some of the finest publishing houses in America.
