After the Wedding Feast at Cana

Whatever happened to the bride and groom?
We’d like to think they lived a happy life:
Children, a little house, the synagogue
Family and friends along their village street

Or were they trapped among the fire and blood
Of Romans and revolts and civil wars
Murdered along some long-lost track in flight
From kinglets and Zealots and Sicarii

In Galilee, where hopes and flowers bloom -
Whatever happened to the bride and groom?
